As the Fourth of July holiday opens this long weekend, we're primping and prepping away. One way we're getting ready is by including a few festive beauty additions. From our hair to our toe nails, we're working on getting into the spirit of the holiday and being patriotic.
Of course, some patriotic styles get a little over-the-top from time to time. But we're looking for an understated and chic way to celebrate our country -- a fashionable July 4th. That means we're probably not dying our hair blue or wearing a flag bikini but we have other great styles to consider.
Here are our favorite July 4th looks: 1. Red Hat
: Without being overly thematic, an awesome red hat can subtly tell your friends and family that you're patriotic without being tacky. We love this hat from Eugenia Kim, gorgeously accented with a gold and white rope. Added bonus: this is a stylish way to stave off those damaging UV rays. 2. Beautiful Headband
: If you're avoiding hat hair this weekend, we recommend wearing an extra layer of sunscreen and trying a stylish headband instead. Again, Eugenia Kim has a solution. A cobalt blue beaded headband (with several red and green accents) will also promote your patriotism without going overboard. 3. Red Lipstick
: The color never really goes out of style. Red lipstick will make you look beautiful and trendy plus it will go well with the decor all weekend long. We like Lancôme's Red Haute
but any red hue will give your lips just enough pop. 4. Blue and White-Striped Sunglasses
: You'll need them while you're out in the sun anyhow so why not have a little fun with them. This adorable style from Illesteva
can infuse some blue and white into your wardrobe and get you into the spirit of the holiday. 5. Patriotic Manicure
: Your finger nails (and toe nails) are like tiny little canvases. And even when you go over the top with a July 4th-themed manicure or pedicure, it's still just a little bit of added fringe (as long as you're not pairing it with red, white and blue hair). That's why we love an adorable red, white and blue design. Find more on Babble.com
